Obama to force insurers to give out birth control when employers won’t

The Obama Administration, fighting against critics of its health reform policy requiring religious employers to provide women with contraceptives, will force insurance companies to provide the services in cases where employers object to birth control on religious grounds.

The compromise puts the onus on insurers, not the employers, thus freeing the Obama Administration from the political headache caused when the Catholic Church and other groups opposed to birth control objected to the federal government forcing them to provide women with birth control services.

IBC partners with Health Advocate to provide health advocacy service

The Independence Blue Cross (IBC) has signed an agreement with Health Advocate, to provide a new and innovative health advocacy service to improve access while dealing with complex health-related situations and deliver higher quality at lower cost for its members.

Under the terms of the accord, IBC will assign 4,500 associates for the new health advocacy service and their eligible family members to ask questions about their own medical benefits or health-related decisions.IBC president and CEO Daniel J.

Study shows that states could see major benefits from establishing health insurance exchanges

A new study from the Urban Institute, an organization that investigates social and economic problems in the U.S., suggests that Oklahoma, as well as 14 other states, could see major benefits from establishing a health insurance exchange. The study shows that, at this point, Oklahoma has done the least to make progress on the project, apart from states that have refused the law completely. A health insurance exchange would have a significant economic impact for the state and its peoples, according to the Urban Institute.

Over the past year, three separate legislations that would have established a foundation for a health insurance exchange in the state have failed.
