Individual health insurance plans with maternity coverage are basically basic plans from which the insurance providers have removed some coverage and then introduced maternity riders. This is not always beneficial for couples planning on pregnancy. Insurance coverage for a normal pregnancy is high and ranges from around $6,000 to $12,000. According to the Pregnancy Discrimination Act, most group health insurance policies cover the costs of normal labor and delivery but there are no similar laws governing individual health insurance plans. What level of cover for your van?

Broadly speaking in the UK there are three main levels of cover for your van. They are as follows. The first is known as ‘third party only’ insurance. This covers your liability to other people and nothing else. Personal injury claims and financial claims for loss of earnings or damage to property are covered up to the limit in the policy. This is the cheapest and most basic type of cover and it covers your legal responsibilities and nothing else. No other loss or damage following an accident can be part of a claim. Gender ruling: How it affects you

Insurers can currently take gender into account as a risk factor to calculate not only insurance premiums, but also the annuity income they will offer to their pension savers.

However, from December 21, 2012 insurers will no longer be able to charge different premiums for men and women. We set out the winners and losers from the new ruling.

The biggest losers will be female drivers under the age of 25, who will almost certainly see their premiums rise by between 25 and 50 per cent. Currently young women are offered better rates as they are safer drivers than young men.

PMI evolves in response to NHS cuts

Insurers are preparing to plug the growing gaps in state healthcare provision as the National Health Service faces the most radical reform in its 62-year history.

Providers are launching new policies, or tweaking existing plans, as evidence emerges that the NHS is being stretched by the need to find up to £20bn in efficiency savings, and undertake structural reform.
