AmPmInsure is proud to announce that Lori has successfully crossed 7000 posts in the community – the highest by any member till date!

Lori has actively participated in the community forum since September 2007 and has till date been consistent with her performance. Her sound advice on insurance related problems has helped a lot of members.

US introduces hand luggage restrictions on flights

The United States authorities have introduce restrictions on hand luggage in the light of the incident on Northwest Airlines flight 253 between Amsterdam and Detroit on Christmas Day, in which a passenger was detained. Transatlantic passengers will now only be able to take one item on board the aircraft with them.

The US Department of Homeland Security issued a statement saying: “Passengers may notice additional screening measures put into place to ensure the safety of the travelling public on domestic and international flights.”

British Airways says that it has been asked to ensure that passengers departing on a flight from Heathrow or Gatwick to the US carry only one item of hand luggage onboard.

Home insurance claims set to rise for repairing New Year’s Eve damage

Home insurance claims will rise this week following damage and breakages to homes during New Year’s Eve parties and the aftermath of Christmas, Confused.com has predicted. The comparison website has estimated that it will cost nearly £1billion to replace broken items, repair and clean up all the damage done over Christmas and New Year, with the average home spending £35 each. Almost 10 per cent of British homes will have to spend as much as £100 to undo the damage caused by over-zealous party goers.

easyJet launches online check-in

The airline carrier easyJet has recently launched an online check-in service for passengers with hold luggage. At last, easyJet has caught up with other airlines, including British Airways, Flybe and Ryanair, that already offer such a service (in fact, Ryanair no longer offers the option of airport check-in desks).

The new easyJet check-in procedure is similar to other airlines: you check in online within a specified period before departure, then print out your boarding pass before leaving home. Read more…
