To become eligible, participants must complete a quote request on their website http://www.dashers.com during the contest period of June 17, 2010 and August 14, 2010. This sweepstakes contest is open only to eligible California residents who are 18 years of age and older and who hold a valid USA driver’s license.

Arizona Red Light Camera’s

An anti-photo enforcement group fell short of finding the signatures needed to get their proposal on November ballot. Their goal is to have Arizona voters approve the ending of camera’s used at intersections to catch red light runners.
In a 2009 poll 80% of Arizonan’s polled favored having intersection camera’s, which are designed to catch red-light runners. Tucson claims that the camera’s have reduced excessive speeding at some intersections by up to 90%.
Similarly, Mesa has seen red light violations decrease by 45%. Near one Mesa Junior High School the city has seen speeding decrease signifincantly. Read more…

Fortis and AmEx team up on motor and household insurance

Fortis Insurance and American Express have announced a five-year strategic partnership to provide motor and household insurance products to American Express customer in the UK.

Europe imposes caps on banker bonuses, insurance companies could be concerned

The European Parliament sounded the death knell for unrestricted bonuses for some bankers and traders in Europe on Wednesday when it approved limits due to come into force in January.
The action was a response to public outrage in the face of bonuses widely seen as excessive during the global financial crisis. But the banking industry has warned that the restrictions could hurt Europe’s competitiveness to the benefit of rival financial centres from Wall Street to Hong Kong.
Pascal Canfin, a Green MP from France, said that the caps on bonuses imposed by the European Parliament were “the most ambitious in the world” and would end “extravagant bonuses synonymous with extravagant risks.”
The new EU rules will mean a far lower proportion of cash in the bonus, which would be much less payable upfront. Remaining
